A
beautiful motet by Thomas Tomkins, "When David Heard" is
arranged for Brass Quintet by Eddie Lewis. It embodies the grief
and deep loss that King David felt upon hearing of his beloved son's
death. This
piece is the first in a series of exact transcriptions. "When
David Heard" was originally written for five voices, all of which are
intact and unarranged, for the purpose of studying Renaissance
counterpoint in a performance environment. |
