Thought you have
heard all the versions of "Ode to Joy" and that there couldn't possibly be
a new interpretation of the old favorite?
This
version of Ode to Joy is NOT a transcription of Beethoven’s Ninth
Symphony. Instead, Lewis set out to write something a little
better suited to the atmosphere of a
wedding.
His version of this ancient hymn is re-harmonized
and altered in subtle ways that make it slightly different. In
this way, it is more appropriate for a wedding ceremony than the longer,
more serious symphonic transcriptions. It works perfectly as wedding
recessional music.
