Are you from Dixie? - for Brass Quintet

“Are you from Dixie?”, a popular song from the early 20th century, has been arranged for brass quintet as an up-tempo, happy piece in traditional American march form.

The melody is passed around all the instruments, giving each player a chance to shine and a chance to rest.  The inner voices, with their subtle countermelodies and rhythmic play, provide an interesting enrichment to the typical "umpa, umpa" of a march.

"Are you from Dixie?" is appropriate for musicians of advanced junior high school level or higher.  It is also suitable for use by professionals at "casual" gigs.  "Are you from Dixie?" can be considered a piece of Americana and is ideal for use at patriotic events and park concerts.
